Planning a wedding can be a daunting task, but with these tips, you can make it a breeze!

20 Top Wedding Ideas For You...

1. Start planning as far in advance as possible. The more time you have, the more options you'll have. There are some couples who choose to plan years in ahead this would ensure that you get lots of time to put your dream day together. Keep in mind that some wedding venues are booked up along time in advance as well.

2. Hire a wedding planner! If you feel like you're struggling to keep everything together or if you just don't have enough time, then hiring a planner might be the best decision you make.

3. Make a list of all the people you would like to invite to your wedding and start collecting their contact details such as mobile numbers and email addresses. This will be very important when it comes time to send out your invitations and you would be able to keep track of who has and has not responded.

4. Come up with a budget and try to stick to it as closely as possible. This will be crucial in order to avoid any extra stress in the months leading up to your big day. Allocate a budget to each aspect of your wedding day, bear in mind some parts will be more expensive than others for example it is expected that the Wedding Venue would account for a large proportion of the budget followed by catering and photography.

5. Choose a date and book your Wedding Venue as soon as possible. This will secure the date and you can start planning the finer details. Send out "save the dates" to your guests so they can keep the date free and in the diary that this will ensure that you will have the majority of your guests in attendance, as they will have plenty of notice.

6. Choose a theme for your wedding and start collecting decorations and items that will match this theme. This can be really fun and it will help you stay organized throughout the planning process.

7. Start to compile a guest list, remember to invite close family and friends as they will want to share your special day with you. If you are struggling for names, ask your parents, siblings or best friends for help. once you have a rough list you need to work out how to whittle the list down by using a set of rules, you may want to not invite partners of those not married or not include children under the age of 18.

8. Choose your bridal party, this may seem like an obvious one but it is worth considering who you want by your side on the big day, They will need to be reliable and supportive and practical in keeping you calm when you need it so choose wisely! This should cover the Bridesmaids, Flower Girls, Groomsmen and Best Man you may want to decide to keep the number in the bridal party limited to avoid any hassle on the day.

9. Book your wedding venue, this is one of the most important decisions you will make in the planning process and can often dictate a lot of other choices you make so it is vital to choose the right one for you, Your venue should be somewhere that feels like ‘you’, whether that is a traditional country house or an urban loft space, Once you have chosen your venue start thinking about what type of wedding you want to have and what will suit the space.

10. Start looking for your wedding dress, this is often something that needs to be done in advance where dresses are being made to measure and alterations are being done. Don’t forget any bridal accessories, start trying them on and getting an idea of what you would like. This is a very important task and you don't want to leave it until the last minute.

11. Book your wedding photographer and videographer, these are two people who will capture your big day for posterity so it is important to book professionals that you trust and who you know will do a good job.

12. Plan your wedding menu, this can be one of the most fun things to plan and can really reflect your personality, don’t be afraid to mix things up a bit and have something a bit different from the norm, decide on whether you would like a buffet, sit down meal or hog roast (or something else). This is important to decide early on as caterers get booked up quickly.

13. Purchase wedding insurance, accidents can happen and it is always better to be safe than sorry.

14. Sort out your transport, not only for yourself and the bridal party but this is especially important if you have guests that you want to transport from the hotel to the wedding and vice versa.

15. Book your honeymoon, this is something that should be done early on to ensure you get the best deal.

16. Plan your wedding rehearsal, this is a great way for everyone to familiarize themselves with the ceremony and plan out how they will be walking etc.

17. Delegate, delegate, delegate! Ask your friends and family for help and let them take care of some of the details.

18. Stay organised! This is key in wedding planning. Use a planner, or create a spreadsheet with all of your vendors, dates, and payments due.

19. Be flexible! Things will inevitably go wrong, but try not to stress out too much.

20. Don't forget the most important part of the wedding: the bride and groom! Make sure to take time for yourselves and enjoy the planning process.

At The Hungry Plaice we have recently introduced a new addition to our fleet Bessie a modern van specifically for certain corporate events which call for a modern van. This contemporary vehicle is equipped with a modern range fryer and will be able to cover long distances effortlessly, allowing us to continue to cater for clients even in far-flung locations! The decision to invest in this high-tech van was driven by the desire to preserve our beloved vintage vans, Betty and Beryl who aged 40 and 38 respectively need to do less travelling in order to keep them on the road for as long as we can. Betty and Beryl have been serving up delicious fish and chips for years, becoming icons of The Hungry Plaice's brand. They hold sentimental value that goes beyond their functionality as food trucks and customers had developed an emotional connection with these charming old-fashioned vehicles. Recognising this sentiment, we have decided it was time to protect Betty and Beryl from excessive wear and tear. By introducing the modern van for corporate events, The Hungry Plaice ensures that Betty and Beryl can get some well-deserved rest while still meeting the demands of commercial catering. The advanced features of the new van enhance efficiency making it easier for the business to accommodate large gatherings and operate in distant venues without straining their classic counterparts. Moreover, the modern van allows The Hungry Plaice to expand its reach into previously untapped markets. With its reliability over long distances, the company can now offer its renowned fish and chips experience at various events across different regions, attracting new customers who may have previously been out of range. Despite taking advantage of cutting-edge technology using this new vehicle, The Hungry Plaice remains committed to maintaining its traditional appeal. Betty and Beryl will continue delighting customers at weddings, private and some corporate events keeping alive the nostalgic charm that has become synonymous with The Hungry Plaice experience. The decision to incorporate a modern van alongside Betty and Beryl represents a balanced approach between preserving tradition and embracing innovation. As we embark on this exciting chapter of expansion The Hungry Plaice remains dedicated to delivering excellence in our services.
